Product clarity / READY OR NOT

Why your AI-built app’s backlog keeps growing.

A longer task list can be a sign that the product’s current state is no longer clear.

By Ready or Not · Illustrative examples, not client findings

What you might notice

New tasks refer to features already partly implemented. Old tickets describe assumptions that changed. Every fix reveals another unfinished dependency.

An example

A fictional team has three tickets for account invitations, each written during a different development session. One asks for a feature that already exists; another describes a superseded flow.

Why it matters

The owner funds overlapping work and struggles to identify what actually blocks launch. A new audit can make this worse if it simply adds more tickets.

How we check

We map agreed product outcomes to implementation, compare findings with existing tasks, and discuss obsolete requirements with the owner. Code cannot decide whether a feature still matters to the business.

What a fix should achieve

Merge duplicate tasks, retire obsolete requirements with owner agreement, and group work by complete user outcome. Every remaining task should have a reason, a priority, and a testable finish line.
